Mary's story

Mary Neville (Nee Wells) was born on 6th October 1921. The forth of ten siblings. She worked as a machinist at Shortlands Express in Irthlingborough. She married her soul mate Sydney Neville on 24th March 1943. They enjoyed a contented life together, going dancing and on holidays to Spain. She enjoyed baking and making her own pastry and spending time in the garden with her husband, growing tomatoes in their greenhouse. Sadly, Syd passed away in November 2005 and Mary missed him every day. In her later years Mary lived at Highmead House Care Home in Irthlingborough. Sadly Mary passed away on 5th June 2017, aged 95. Survived by her only remaining sibling, her brother Clifford Wells. She was a kind lady with a wonderful sense of humour who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family believe that Mary would want her friends and family to donate to Air Ambulance, rather than send flowers to her funeral. Mary was a huge supporter of this charity.

What is a gift in your will?

Legacies, also known as gifts in Wills, have a profound impact on our charity, funding 1 in 7 of our lifesaving missions. Legacies are another way in which you can honour a loved one’s memory and that gift allows their memory to live on long into the future, allowing us to save lives of future generations in their name. If you have included such a special gift in your Will, you can now show that on your loved one’s page with a pledge, or you can request to learn more about legacies with our free Gifts in Wills Guide.
